More than just equipping students with critical thinking and argumentative capacities, I believe character development is the point of education. At Coker College, I have had the pleasure of seeing students gradually become empowered citizens of their own communities. Coker provides so many creative opportunities for this development to happen, which is why I love it here.

"I'm Southern and a do-gooder. I wanted to teach at a small Liberal Arts college in the rural South where I could make a difference. When I found Coker, I found what I was looking for. Study abroad, mentoring students about life and career choices, and teaching Spanish and literature are my passions."

"With the new millenium, I came to Coker sensing that I had the opportunity to help build something special: a college where we could watch 'the lights come on' in a student's mind. I have not been disappointed. This is especially true of my experiences in overseas study. Many of my study abroad alumni are still traveling and seeing more than ever the importance of travel as a crucial component of the liberal arts and essential in the preparation of the student for citizenship."
