Class of 1969, News April 2017

Class Rep News

Hey all my Coker friends,

Thanks to Jen Baker Smith and Connie Iglehart Brock for helping me serve as the Class of ’69 rep. We will be soon begin discussing mostly by email what our class will plan for our 50th reunion over the next couple of years. It will be here before we know. If any of you change your email address or know someone’s that is not on our list, please send this on to me. I am at frankiesapc@yahoo.com.

In the meantime, here’s my update from the last 18 months: Chip and I traveled to Greece and Italy for a 22 day trip with another couple; Jackie, Jen, Evelyn and I spent a fabulous time at Jen’s mountain house last summer (I came home hoarse from talking and laughing so much); Chip and I met our older daughter, Fran, and her family who live in CO, and Bryan our son and his fam who live in SC in Tucson where our daughter, Grace, lives for a wonderful Thanksgiving week; and I went back work in my previous position at the church but part-time now.

Hi from April Garnier Poitras. Joe and I still live in Arlington TX but make lots of trips to Austin where our 2 sons and 3 grandchildren live. Two boys ages 5 and 8 and finally a granddaughter who is 1. I’m still able to get down on the floor to play with them and get up fairly easily. Love to run around with them outside. They keep us young! My parents both passed away…my Dad in late 2014. Fortunately I was with him in NJ when he passed at 93 years old. Then my siblings and I had to clean out almost 70 years of accumulations. We love traveling to various places in Europe and National Parks in the U.S.

Libby Cannon Daniel: I wish Mr. B were still alive. I would love to thank him for the art foundation I received at Coker and to share my new watercolors with him. When I left Coker I taught art in the elementary school for only a couple of years. When I quit teaching I quit art. Except for a few projects with my children and painting a room in the house now and then, I did not touch a brush or paint for almost 50 years.

After I retired from a long career as a corporate trainer my family gave me paints and brushes for Christmas in 2014. What a wonderful gift. I have been having the best time. I love seeing the bright colors of the watercolors swirl together. Check out my Page on Facebook athttps://www.facebook.com/Libby-Danel-1258762140886418/ to see what I’ve been up to. I will never be famous or displayed in galleries but what a fun time I have had. Thank you Mr. B.
