Why Music Education?
Combine your love of music with your love of teaching—and learn how to share the wonder of music with a new generation. Students completing the Bachelor of Music Education degree will be recommended to the State of South Carolina for certification to teach K-12 general music with an additional certification in either choral or instrumental music.
What You’ll Gain
If your interest is specifically in music education, Coker will prepare you to teach your chosen content area in PK-12 classrooms. Guided by the department’s education coordinator, you will follow a structured curriculum to prepare you with base knowledge and teaching methods specific to your content area.
In addition, core courses within the Wiggins School of Education cover topics such as assessment and classroom management.
