Coker College’s Cecelia Coker Bell Gallery presents an exhibition by Richard Chandler Hoff titled, “Inventing History,” with a reception. This event is free and open to the public. The exhibition begins on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 7:00 PM. Light refreshments will be served. Hoff’s show will continue through March 3, 2017.
Richard Chandler Hoff is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art. His drawings have been featured in American Artist Magazine and the premier issue of Drawing Magazine. He currently resides in Felton, Pennsylvania with his wife Joanne and Ginger, the studio cat.
Hoff’s work consists of black and white drawings, depicting daily life in America during the 40’s and 50’s. “In capturing the essence of life on the ‘homefront,’ I depict popular architectural and social icons of the era to create scenes of places where Americans gathered to pursue the art of having fun,” Hoff says of his work. During the opening reception, Hoff will be present for an artist’s talk and available to take questions.
The Cecelia Coker Bell Gallery is open 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and from 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM on Tuesday and Thursday while classes are in session. The gallery is located in the Gladys C. Fort Art Building on the campus of Coker College, Hartsville, SC. Parking entrance for the art building is directly across from 306 E. Home Ave. For more information, contact exhibition director Ashley Gillespie at 843-383-8156 or For more information about the gallery, please visit
