Hartsville, S.C. — August 14, 2017 — Coker College’s Cecelia Coker Bell Gallery presents "Structured Emotions," an exhibition by Linda McCune. The exhibition begins with a reception on Monday, August 28, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served. The show will continue through September 22, 2017.

McCune is exhibiting two different, but related, series of works. The "Stress Series" and the "Pit Series" both present artworks that contain veiled emotional responses to unforeseen circumstances. Meaning is implied by the juxtaposition of images and sculptural materials. Small studies are drawn in preparation for the time-consuming larger works. The small studies, larger drawings, and sculptural works demonstrate that visual images can reflect a complexity of emotional states.

Linda McCune received her bachelor's of fine art, with an emphasis in painting, from the University of Tennessee. She received her master's of fine art, with an emphasis in drawing and sculpture, from the University of South Carolina. She is currently the assistant art department head at Greenville Technical College.
