Hartsville, S.C. – January 26, 2017 – Coker College will host the Sankofa African-American Museum on Wheels for a two day event on Monday, January 30, from 2pm-8pm, and Tuesday, January 31, from 9am-1pm.
The museum will be located at the Auxiliary Gym of the Harris E. & Louise H. DeLoach Center Gymnasium on the Coker College campus. Presentations will be held both days: Monday at 5pm and 7pm, Tuesday at 9:30am and 11:30am, and will last approximately 20 minutes.
Hartsville, S.C. – Jan. 25, 2017 – A $5,000 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation will enable 1,000 Pee Dee area schoolchildren to have a firsthand experience with environmental education at Kalmia Gardens of Coker College.
The goal of the program is to give K-12 grade level students in the Pee Dee region a hands-on experience that will lead to an understanding of watersheds, water quality and the factors that affect them.
Hartsville, S.C. – Jan. 12, 2017 – Coker College’s 44th Annual Faculty Show opens at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017 with a public reception in the Cecelia Coker Bell Gallery. The reception is free and refreshments will be served.
Hartsville, S.C. – Jan. 11, 2017 – On Saturday, December 17, 2016, Coker College conferred bachelor’s degrees on 70 graduates and master’s degrees on 19 during its 2016 Winter Commencement Ceremony.
The ceremony was held in the Harris E. and Louise H. DeLoach Center. Mr. Walter (Walt) N. George, III, Chair of the Coker College Board of Trustees, delivered the commencement address as well as received an honorary degree, the Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters.
Hartsville, S.C. – November 23, 2016 – The Coker College Concert Band will perform their Winter Concert on Tuesday, December 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Watson Theater of the college’s Elizabeth Boatwright Coker Performing Arts Center.
The concert will include selections by the Coker College Concert Band, Jazz Band and Flute Choir. These large and small ensembles will perform a variety of music celebrating the season.
Hartsville, S.C. – October 24, 2016 – The Coker College Art Club’s annual student exhibition begins with a reception at 7 p.m. on Monday, November 14th. Merit awards and prizes will be presented at the opening, and light refreshments will be served. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.
Greatly anticipated by students, staff, and faculty, the 44th Annual Student Competition will exhibit a selection of the best student work from this past year. The exhibition is open for viewing through December 2, 2016.
Hartsville, S.C. – October 24, 2016 – The Coker College Dance Program will present the annual Student Choreography Showcase on Friday, Nov. 4th and Saturday, Nov. 5th at 7:30 p.m. in the Watson Theatre of the Elizabeth Boatwright Coker Performing Arts Center.
Hartsville, S.C. – September 23, 2016 – Dr. Susan Daniels Henderson, Associate Provost and Dean of the Faculty of Coker College, has announced the addition of nine full-time faculty members for the 2016-2017 academic year: Dr. Julie Bryant, Kyria Flynn, Dr. Casey Gilewski, Dr. Valerie Granger, Nate Gulledge, Dr. Brian Heslop, Danny Malone, Dr. Dustin Ousley and Alyssa Reiser Prince.
Hartsville, S.C. – September 22, 2016 – Enrollment for the fall of 2016 is the largest in Coker College’s 108-year history. The four traditional undergraduate classes are the largest the school has ever enrolled (811 students) with total enrollment at an impressive 1,186 students.
