Spring 2026 lessons and classes begin January 20

The foundation of the Coker Community Music Program is to provide the highest level of music education in the Pee Dee region. Our accomplished faculty allow students of all ages and levels to enrich their lives through the study and exploration of music regardless of level or age. Lessons are taught at the Margaret Coker Lawton Music Building on the campus of Coker University. This facility as well as the adjoining Elizabeth Boatwright Coker Performing Arts Center will enhance weekly learning experiences by providing dedicated practice rooms, world-class Steinway instruments, large classrooms, and a beautiful Recital Hall. Classes and Ensembles

Private Voice, Piano, Woodwinds (Clarinet, Saxophone), Brass (French Horn), Guitar (Classical, Popular, Bass) and Violin Instruction

Coker Band
The Coker Band is a large symphonic ensemble comprised of Coker students and community musicians. Rehearsals will be held on Monday nights from 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. Performances include two Masterworks and two Pops Concerts each year. No audition is required. Please contact Dr. Graham Wood, gwood@coker.edu.

Coker Contemporary Chorus
The Coker Contemporary Chorus is a mixed-voices choral ensemble comprised of Coker students and community musicians. This group performs in a variety of current and recent styles of music, including Broadway, jazz, pop, gospel, and more. Rehearsals will be held on Thursday nights from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Performances include two fall and two spring concerts each year. No audition is required. Instructor Levels

Private lesson tuition rates vary by the level of the instructor.

Coker Music Faculty

Includes full-time music faculty of Coker University. These instructors are experienced teachers who hold a doctoral degree in their field, and have established careers as professional performers, directors, clinicians, and/ or researchers.

Senior Teachers

Includes experienced teachers who have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, and often a master’s degree, in their field. These teachers are often professional performers and directors.

Associate Teachers

Includes newer teachers who may have a bachelor’s degree, or may be currently working on a music degree at Coker. These teachers are passionate and have significant experience with their instrument.

Tuition Includes:
- 12 individual lessons with CCMP’s accomplished instructors
- Access to practice facilities
- Optional performance in one of our beautiful performance spaces with Steinway pianos
- Free access to many of Coker University’s cultural events sponsored by the McCall School of Visual and Performing Arts

Please note:

A 10% discount on tuition is available to students who pay for the entire semester before the first day of lessons. A 2-installment payment plan (at full price) is also available.

In addition to tuition, all new and returning students will be charged a $15 registration fee each semester.
All late payments will incur an additional $15 fee.
Students are responsible for purchasing any necessary materials for their lessons.
