Memorial service for Joyce Marie Askins, age 75, will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be following the service. Mr. Jerry S. Byrd, Jr. will officiate. Ms. Askins was born in Klamath Falls, OR, a daughter of Betty Jane Nelson Askins and the late Joe Ezra Askins. She was a graduate of Hartsville High School, attended Coker University and graduated from Mobile Infirmary for Nursing with a B.S. degree in nursing. She was a member of the Library Book Club in Hartsville. She loved to organize and label, loved to entertain and loved adult coloring books. She was Resident Director at Morningside in Hartsville. She spent most of her career as a Physical Rehab Nurse, culminating her work at Morningside. She went to Mississippi and worked in a framing shop, enjoyed visiting family in Oregon and South Carolina. She collected tricycles and dragon flies and rode her tricycles until the wheels ran off them. She never stopped riding because she moved so often back and forth from South Carolina to Oregon. Surviving are her mother, Hartsville; one daughter, Janna Easterling, West Carrollton, Ohio; her fiance’, Raymond “Joe” Chapman, Hartsville.
