Harriette Virginia Colvin, 89, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on March 8, 2018, in Charlotte.
She was born June 9, 1928, in Florence, SC, the daughter of Benjamin Reuben Turner and Anna Mae Turner of Florence.
She graduated from McClenaghan High School in Florence, SC, and attended Coker University in Hartsville, SC.

Harriette was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. She served as a church musician, church secretary, missionary, and missions support worker. As a musician, she played piano and organ and sang solos and in choirs for many churches throughout her life. As a missionary with Wycliffe Bible Translators in the 1970s, she typed Bible translations in Papua New Guinea languages that she did not know. As a support worker for JAARS, she provided office support and transportation services well into her 80s.

Harriette was married to David Ray Colvin, who preceded her to heaven on February 18, 1980. Together, they raised two sons, David Paul Colvin and Patrick Alan Colvin.
She is survived by her son, Patrick Alan Colvin of Charlotte, NC; daughter-in-law Laura Leigh Colvin of Rock Hill, SC; four east-coast grandchildren, Jonathan Colvin, David A. Colvin, Nathan Colvin, and Josiah Colvin, all of the Charlotte, NC and Rock Hill, SC area; four west-coast grandchildren, Lucas Colvin of Irvine, CA, Laurel Colvin Taylor, Jessica Colvin, and Peter Colvin, all of the Seattle, WA area; and five great-grandchildren, Bryson Colvin, Ethan Colvin, Samantha Colvin, and Tory Colvin, all of Rock Hill, SC, and Margaret Colvin of Irvine, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Reuben Turner and Anna Mae Turner; her siblings, Inez Elizabeth Turner Quick, Benjamin Rudolph Turner, and Francis Lucyle Turner Seabrook; her husband, David Ray Colvin; and her eldest son, David Paul Colvin.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 28 at 1:30 p.m. at JAARS, 7405 JAARS Rd, Waxhaw, NC 28173.
