Melody Hamby Crowe Hubbard, 73, died Saturday, April 14th, after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Carolyn Hydrick Hamby and her father, Meldon Ray Hamby. She is survived by her husband, Rick Hubbard. She is also survived by her sons Chris Crowe and wife Keryn, and their children: Noah, Cade and Bella; her son, Greg Crowe and his wife, Sunni, and their children their children Taylor and Cole. Rick’s sons: Scott Hubbard and wife, Agnes, and their children Bobby, Will, Aubrey, Ben and Noel; Todd Hubbard and wife, Beth, and their children Joel and Jackson; Jeff Hubbard and his daughter, Katie.
Melody was a graduate of Coker University and received her Masters at Clemson University. She retired from Pickens County School District after years of service as a school psychologist. She received many awards and honors throughout her life, but none was more cherished than the recent announcement of her induction into the Greater Greenville Area Shagger’s Hall of Fame.
She was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church where she served in the church choir and was a Sunday school teacher.
Her celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Glenwood Baptist Church, 325 Saco Lowell Road, Easley on Saturday, April 21st. Friends are asked to come early if they wish to enjoy the music and pictures compiled to reflect her life. The family will receive friends immediately after the service at the exit of the church.
Those wishing to send flowers may have them delivered to the church. There has been a music scholarship established for an outstanding rising freshman at Coker in her honor and donations may be sent to Coker University for that purpose.
