The Coker College Department of Behavioral Sciences is seeking qualified applicants for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Criminology beginning no later than August, 2017. The primary responsibilities of the position include:

  • teaching assignments at the undergraduate level and graduate level in the College’s Master of Science in Applied Criminology program;

  • teaching assignments that may include the main campus, satellite campuses, and online instruction;

  • advising/mentoring students;

  • serving on Department and College committees;

  • and other responsibilities as defined by the College.

The Department is seeking an individual who is passionate about teaching; dedicated to developing meaningful, collegial working relationships with students, faculty, and staff across campus; eager to contribute his/her interests and ideas for new and innovative courses and programs; and committed to actively contributing to Coker College’s mission.

Preferred qualifications include an earned doctorate in Criminology, Sociology, or a closely related field; ABD will be considered.  Preferred areas of expertise include: race, gender, class and crime, along with deviance and criminological theory. The interest and ability to engage in scholarly activities is required.

This is a full-time, 9-month position with competitive salary and benefits. The successful candidate will report to the Chair of the Department of Behavioral Sciences and  may work on our campus in Hartsville, SC or remotely via our online platform.

Coker College’s Department of Language, Literature, Communication, and Religion invites applicants to apply for positions as Adjunct Faculty in English (first-year composition), Communication (public speaking), Spanish (first-year instruction), and Religion (introductory surveys). Primary responsibilities include:

  • organizing and presenting subject matter in a meaningful way to achieve intended learning outcomes for students that may include the main campus, satellite campuses, and online instruction;

  • evaluating student progress;

  • recording student grades and attendance in WebAdvisor;

  • and other duties as assigned by the department chair or program coordinator.

The Coker College Department of Business Administration is seeking qualified applicants for part-time, adjunct teaching assignments in its Bachelor of Arts Business Administration and Bachelor of Science Business Management programs. Specific areas of expertise are needed in Finance, Marketing, Economics, Accounting, Management, and Law. The incumbent will be expected to teach a comprehensive and rigorous undergraduate curriculum on the main campus in Hartsville South Carolina and satellite campuses (Florence, Marion, Cheraw and Columbia, South Carolina). This is not a remote position.

Successful candidates should hold a terminal degree in Management, Marketing, Sports/Athletic Management or a closely related field, have significant professional experience, as well as demonstrably capable of effective teaching and accomplishment of student learning outcomes via traditional and online delivery.

Coker College’s Department of Language, Literature and Communication invites applicants to apply for the position Adjunct Faculty for the Spanish program beginning Summer 2016.  Primary responsibilities include:

  • organizing and presenting subject matter in a meaningful way to achieve intended learning outcomes for students that may include the main campus, satellite campuses, and online instruction;

  • evaluating student progress;

  • recording student grades and attendance in WebAdvisor;

  • and other duties as assigned by the language program coordinator.

 

Applicants should be  passionate about teaching; dedicated to developing meaningful, collegial working relationships with students, faculty, and staff across campus; eager to contribute his/her interests and ideas for new and innovative courses and programs; and committed to actively contributing to Coker College’s mission.

The ideal candidate will be able to teach introductory Spanish language courses at the 100 level using a communicative approach.

A master’s degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited institution is required, and doctorate and/or prior teaching experience in a collegiate or K-12 setting are preferred.
