Stafford Student Loans
Stafford Student Loans are low-interest loans provided by the US government. Repayment of student loans begins six months after you graduate, withdraw, or take a leave of absence without re-enrolling. There are two types of Stafford Loans:
- Stafford Subsidized Loans do not accrue interest while you are attending college. Freshmen are eligible for up to $3,500 per year, sophomores are eligible for up to $4,500 per year, and juniors and seniors are eligible for up to $5,500 per year.
- Stafford Unsubsidized Loans will accrue interest while you are attending college at a low interest rate. Independent students who are freshmen or sophomores are eligible for $4,000 during the regular school year, while juniors and seniors are eligible for $5,000.
