Ruby Lynn Barnes

Ruby Lynn Barnes, a beloved mother, devoted wife, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at the McLeod Hospice House on September 1, 2024 at the age of 77. Ruby Lynn was the daughter of the late Leon and Ruby Smith. Ruby Lynn is survived by her husband, Randy of 56 years; her two children: David Barnes (Mandy) and Kimberly Barnes Richardson (Martin). Ruby Lynn, best known as “Mema,” is also survived by her five grandchildren: Landen and Madelynn Barnes, Logan, Jessie and Megan Richardson.

 

As a mother and a grandmother, Ruby Lynn was a nurturing and encouraging presence in the lives of her children and grandchildren, always guiding them with wisdom and grace. Her home was filled with warmth and love, where support was never in short supply. She instilled in her children the values of kindness, faith and perseverance, which will continue to guide them in their lives. As a wife she was a steadfast partner and a source of unending support to her husband, Randy.

 

She was an educator in Florence School District One for 29 years. Throughout her career, she was a beacon of positivity and encouragement to all who knew her. She had a unique ability to make everyone around her feel valued and loved. Her friendships were meaningful and marked by genuine care and a giving spirit. Whether through a listening ear, a comforting word, or simply her joyful presence, she made the world a brighter place for those fortunate enough to know her.

 

Ruby Lynn was a faithful and active member of Greenwood Baptist Church. Her faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her life. She was a living testimony and found peace in knowing that she was walking the path that God had set for her. She always told her family “Live one day at a time and make it a “Masterpiece.”

 

A celebration of Ruby Lynn’s life will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 11:00 am at Greenwood Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am prior to the service. A graveside service will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion, SC at 1:00 pm, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home.

 

Memorials may be made in honor of Ruby Lynn Barnes to the McLeod Hospice House of Florence, SC in care of The Butterfly Fund at 1203 E. Cheves Street, Florence, SC 29506.
