Frances Fowler Baker Williams passed away Sunday, October 27, 2024, at her residence. She was 92 years old.
Born March 15, 1932, in Bennettsville, Frances was the daughter of the late John Rufus and Ada Graham Fowler. She was a graduate of the Bennettsville High School class of 1950 and Coker College class of 1954. Frances was a member of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church for greater than 70 years and served as the church’s Minister of Music for 25 years. She was a Deacon and served on the Building and Nominating Committees, as WMU President, Sunday School teacher, and Bible School teacher. Frances loved music and taught piano lessons for many years. During her retirement she enjoyed volunteering with Agape Hospice and Friends of the Library. She organized and held bible studies in her home.
Frances was predeceased by her parents listed above; first husband, Jimmie Carroll Baker; second husband, Lemont France Williams; brothers, Herbert Graham Fowler, John D. Fowler, and James Clifton “Buddy” Fowler; step-granddaughter, Morgan Williams.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory: daughters, Ivy Baker McLaurin (Mac) and Eve Baker Lima (Bill) both of Bennettsville; stepson, Lee Williams (Lisa) of Bennettsville; grandchildren, Sandra Grooms (R.J.) and Leah Price; step-grandchildren, Jennifer McLaurin, Tony Williams, and Madison Cox; great-grandchildren, Rylee Grooms and Ethan Lovin; and special friend, Glenda Sweatt.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Thomas Memorial Baptist Church, followed by a visitation in the church parlor.
The family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to all of Frances’ caregivers at Crescent Hospice, especially Jennifer Hodge.
