Eleanor Powell Clark, 75, died Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at McLeod Hospice House after an illness.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, June 21, 2019, at Quinby United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends at a reception immediately following the service at the church.
She was born September 30, 1943, in Hemingway, SC, a daughter of the late Dewey Melton Powell, Sr. and Elizabeth Maness Powell. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Coker College. She taught elementary school at Timrod Elementary and James F. Byrnes Academy in Florence, and was an art teacher at Thornwell School for The Arts and Sonovista Elementary School in Hartsville, SC, until her retirement.
Mrs. Clark was the widow of Campbell Ray Clark, III. She worked with him in their computer technology business, Technical Computer Services, Inc., for many years.
She loved gardening and was a member of Quinby United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Christina Clark Roberts and her husband, Colin, of Florence; her son, Campbell Roberts Clark and his wife, Angela, of Quinby; a sister, Yvonne Powell Sigley, of Dalzell, SC; a brother, Joseph Daniel Powell, of Georgetown, SC; three grandchildren, Caroline Clark and her fiancé Will Wham, of Clemson, SC, Clark Roberts of The Citadel in Charleston, SC, and Richard Clark, also of Charleston. She was affectionately known as “Aunt Snook” to numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Elizabeth Powell Harrell and Virginia Powell Cagle; and a brother, Dewey Melton Powell, Jr.
