Ruth Newman Rourk, 99, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Richard A. Buckheister and widow of Clarence H. Rourk entered into eternal rest Friday, August 25, 2017. Her Funeral Service will be held Sunday, August 27, 2017, in Ashley River Baptist Church, 1101 Savannah Hwy, at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends in Ashley River Baptist Church from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by J HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL. Ruth was born May 30, 1918, in Charleston, SC, daughter of the late James L. and Keren Newman. She was a retired Kindergarten and Sunday School Teacher. Ruth was a charter member of Charleston Choral Society and charter member of Ashley River Baptist Church. She is survived by her two daughters, Gayle B. (George) Sawyer of Rock Hill, SC, Janice B. (Charles) Woodward of Memphis, TN; step-sons, Hal (Sherry) Rourk, Jr. and Ronnie (Marguerite) Rourk; three grandchildren, Chris Sawyer, Erin Sawyer and Jynie Riddick; nephews, Harry and Ricky Buckheister; six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a sister, Alma Booth of Gainesville, FL, and two grandsons, Rick Woodward and Patrick Sawyer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the Ashley River Baptist Church, 1101 Savannah Highway, Charleston, SC 29407
