Helen McFadden Mixon 88, wife of the late Jack Early Mixon, died Saturday, July 20, 2019, at McLeod Hospice House, Florence.
Mrs. Mixon was born on September 12, 1930 in Florence County, daughter of the late beloved James Eli McFadden and Maggie Fulmore McFadden. Helen married the love of her life in 1951, James Early Mixon, and spent 39 wonderful years together prior to his death in 1990. She was a member of Lake City United Methodist Church where she served as preschool Sunday school teacher, meals on wheels and visitor to the new born babies. Mrs. Mixon was a graduate of Lake City High School and Coker College.
Surviving are her daughter, Cindy Mixon Ellison, and her husband, Robert, of Lake City; granddaughter, who referred to her as “MeMe”, Ashley Ellison Richardson, and her husband, Hunter, of Myrtle Beach; great grandchildren, who referred to her as “MaMa”, Hunter Richardson, Jr. and Ellison “Elli” Richardson, both of Myrtle Beach. Mrs. Mixon loved all of her cousins, nieces, nephews, close friends and special neighbors.
Mrs. Mixon was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. James Eli McFadden, Jr.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at Lake City United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Carolina Funeral Home, will follow at Graham Cemetery, Cades.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at Lake City United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
