Jeremy Wayne Isom

It is with heavy hearts that the family and friends of Jeremy Wayne Isom, 41, announce his death.

Born in Honolulu, HI, Jeremy lived in many locations during his childhood due to his father being in the US Army. He also spent his early years with his mother in Alabama. In 1991, he moved to St. Louis, MO, to be part of his father’s family. In 1995, the family moved to Hartsville, where Jeremy attended Hartsville Junior High, Mayo Magnet School, and graduated from Hartsville High School in 2001.

That following fall, Jeremy attended Mercer University in Macon, GA, where he joined the Kappa Alpha fraternity. He later moved back to Hartsville where he finished his degree in business from Coker University.

A natural athlete, Jeremy, from a very young age, loved and excelled in sports. He swam in various swim teams, both summer and year-round, as a youngster and loved to dive competitively. He played tennis and was introduced to baseball, his favorite sport. Starting at the age of 7, he was on a number of Little League baseball teams, and when moving to Hartsville joined the Northern League Dixie Youth baseball program, where he was selected to the all-star team. This team of 13/14-year-olds went on to win the Dixie Boys World Series in Atlanta.

He played on the Junior Varsity and Senior Varsity Baseball Teams, as well as played Legion Baseball and was on many travel baseball teams. He received various awards and honors for his baseball achievements but enjoyed his fellow teammates and loved each and every one of them.

Jeremy loved snowboarding, snow skiing, water skiing, and any pick-up basketball game that came along. He loved fishing and hiking and the Atlanta Braves, The Dallas Cowboys and the Denver Broncos. Fantasy football was a hobby of his. But his favorite sport in later years was golf. He played extensively at Hartsville Country Club and various courses around the state. He loved team play and valued his friendships on the course and the challenge and physicality of golf.

Following college, Jeremy worked in the insurance industry with AAA and later moved to Charleston, where he worked as a bartender and a manager at a number of restaurants. He moved to Anderson and joined Horace Mann in 2023.
