Born in Atlanta, Ga., she was the oldest daughter of the late Ross Milam Dixson and Doris Kathleen Burdette Dixson. A 1960 graduate of Dreher High School, she attended Coker College. She worked as a bookkeeper at Sounds Familiar for 24 years until she retired. Kathleen was a devoted wife and mother. She was an avid seamstress, quilter, embroiderer, and was a member of the EMADS Club. She was also an avid animal lover who loved to garden, and loved camping at Edisto Beach.
Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Pinckney T. McElveen, Jr.; her children, Marie McElveen Cox (Richard) of Greenville, SC, Mike McElveen (Carol), and Pamela McElveen Newell (Tim), both of West Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Dr. Michaela McElveen, Travis Newell (Brittany), and Kaitlin W. Cox; one great-grandson expected in the summer; two sisters, Dr. Judith Margaret Suzanne Dixson Thomas of Augusta, GA, and Barbara Dixson (Alan Smith) of Stevens Point, WI; niece, Laura Dixson-Kruijf (Marc); nephew, Milam Smith; great niece and nephew, Brynne and Reece; and many friends.
A private graveside service for family only will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Park. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
