Coker College, an NCAA Division II member, is accepting applications for the position of Academic and Compliance Intern.  This position reports to the Associate Director of Athletics for Internal Operations and works closely with the Vice President for Athletics and the Student Success Center.

The intern will be responsible for managing an assigned group of student-athletes (50% of time).  The individual will provide academic, eligibility, career, and personal advising to the assigned student-athletes.  This position will serve as a member of the Coker Early Alert system and will assist in the planning, implementing, and promoting of leadership, mentoring, and healthy lifestyle choices for student-athletes.  In this role the intern will also assist with all aspects of NCAA Compliance (50% of time) in assigned sports.  This position begins August 1, 2017 and is a 10-month position. 

Bachelor’s degree required.  Must adhere to Coker, NCAA, and SAC rules. Must have strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and strong leadership capabilities.  Candidate must be able to work with a diverse population of student-athletes.  Candidates must be reliable, possess a strong work ethic, have the ability to work independently and communicate in a timely manner both verbally and in writing.  Must be available to work nights and weekends as needed.  A desire to obtain eventual employment in student-athlete support and/or life skills is preferred.

This intern position offers a stipend and graduate remission.  The selected candidate must apply and be accepted to the Master of Science in College Athletic Administration (MSCAA) Graduate program at Coker College by September 1, 2017.
