Coker College’s Department of Business invites applications for the tenure track position of Assistant Professor of Business with an anticipated start date of August 2018.  The College anticipates filling two positions.  The primary responsibilities include:

  • teaching 12 credit hours per semester in an undergraduate and graduate curriculum that may include the main campus, regional satellite campuses, and online instruction to traditional age college students and adult learners;
  • advising and mentoring students to succeed academically and professionally;
  • assessing student learning outcomes;
  • participating in activities beyond the classroom such as recruiting events or extracurricular events on campus;
  • serving on Department and College committees;
  • continuing professional academic activities in the discipline;
  • and other responsibilities as defined by the College.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • earned doctorate or appropriate Master’s degree with a specialization in Finance, Strategic Management, Accounting, Operations, Entrepreneurship, or related fields;
  • teaching experience at the university/college level;
  • professional work experience in a non-academic position; and
  • commitment to ongoing professional development.

Coker College’s Department of Business includes eight full-time faculty members in the fields of management, marketing, entrepreneurship, accounting, and economics. With approximately 300 undergraduate majors, the department offers both traditional and online programs, and also provides classes required for the master’s degree in college athletic administration as well as the master’s degree in management and leadership.

The college is seeking a student-centered, innovative individual who is passionate about teaching; dedicated to developing meaningful, collegial working relationships with students, faculty, and staff across campus; eager to contribute his/her interests and ideas for new and innovative courses and programs; and committed to actively contributing to Coker College’s mission.
