COKER C.A.R.E.S.
Victim’s Options & Resources
If you or someone you know has experienced sexual assault, dating or domestic violence, or stalking on campus, Coker C.A.R.E.S. is here to help. You have the right to live, learn, and work in a safe and welcoming environment. Violence is unacceptable, and University policy prohibits sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking (SADVST).
Coker C.A.R.E.S. understands that sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and stalking are significant experiences and can be traumatizing. Each person’s experience is unique, and numerous options and resources are available for supporting you during this time as well as reporting at Coker University.
Unsure of where to start?
You may want more information or to talk to someone confidentially as you decide what you’d like to do moving forward. Because Coker University recognizes that deciding among these options can be difficult, we encourage you to first seek assistance from a Confidential Resource to discuss your options before deciding how to proceed.
*CONFIDENTIAL RESOURCE
Confidential Resources will keep your information private. They will not take any formal action, but can offer support, provide resources, and make referrals. Confidential Resources include the school nurse, mental health counsellors, pastors, and the Pee Dee Coalition.
NON-CONFIDENTIAL RESOURCE
Non-confidential campus resources can also talk with you about your experience and provide guidance on the reporting process. However, if you make a report to a non-confidential resource, the information you report will be shared with the Title IX Coordinator and/or Student Conduct. Non-confidential Resources include Professors, Staff, Coaches, Campus Safety, CSAs, and the Title IX Coordinator.
There is no one correct response.
It is IMPORTANT to note there is no one correct response – simply different options to access support and different options to report. Above all, your immediate and long-term safety is what’s most important. The resources outlined below may be helpful as you decide what next steps are a good fit for you.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
