HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Nov. 7, 2011 – Coker College Musical Theater will present three performances of “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown” this month at Watson Theater of the Elizabeth Boatwright Coker Performing Arts Center.

Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 11-12, and at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13.

Based on the Charles Schultz comic strip “Peanuts,” the musical presents a typical day in the life of Charlie Brown. It is a revised version of the original 1971 show that played on Broadway in 1999.

Tickets are $15 for adults; $5 for students and children; and free with Coker College identification.

The cast is directed by Bryant Herring, a Coker alumna who directs at the Kershaw Fine Arts Center in Camden, S.C.  Musical direction is provided by Associate Professor of Music Graham Wood.  Additional choreography is by Assistant Professor of Dance Erin Leigh.  Set design, lighting design and technical direction is provided by Assistant Professor of Theater David Dawson.

Cast members include students Dustin Moree as Charlie Brown, Jon Moree as Linus, Ashley West as Lucy, Patrick Doughty as Schroeder, Jill Brantley as Sally and Briana Lotan as Snoopy.

“Charlie Brown and his friends are one of the few parts of popular culture still enjoyed across several generations,” says producer and musical director Graham Wood. “The jokes are still fresh and the journey of vulnerable young people searching for their identity still speaks to the kid in all of us.”
