HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Dec. 2, 2011– The exhibition of Coker College art student Analisa Smith’s senior show, an installation of light sculptures at the Cecelia Coker Bell Gallery, has been extended through Friday, Dec. 9.

Smith, who had originally been invited to show her works through Dec. 2, agreed to the extension after requests from colleagues and gallery visitors.

“This is an exhibition of student work that rises to the level of a young professional,” said Professor of Art, and Smith’s senior studio advisor, Jim Boden.

“Analisa’s work is intellectually engaging and aesthetically pleasing,” said Gallery Director and Assistant Professor of Art Larry Merriman.  “I sincerely appreciate her willingness to continue the exhibition for another week.”

Senior exhibitions, a 43-year tradition at Coker, are required of graduating art majors and are intended to represent the culmination of four years of study. These shows also offer us a glimpse of what the artists may explore with their work following graduation.

The Cecelia Coker Bell Gallery is located in the Gladys C. Fort Art Building on the Coker College campus. Gallery hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, while classes are in session.
