Coker Music to Present Alumni Recital

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Mar. 19, 2013 – Coker College Music Program will present a free alumni recital featuring bass-baritone Bryant Belin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Hannah Lide Coker Recital Hall.


Belin will be accompanied by pianist Vance Reese and will perform compositions by Moses Hogan, Carlisle Floyd, Felix Mendelssohn, George Handel, Harry Burleigh and Ralph Williams.


"We are proud to list Bryant among our very successful Coker graduates,” said Serena Hill, assistant professor of music. “Besides being an engaging singer, he is also a true entrepreneur who is dedicating his talents to the education of young musicians."

Belin received a Bachelor of Arts in vocal performance from Coker College in 2007. He received recognition as the Coker College Department of Theatre, Dance and Music’s outstanding student and was named to Who’s Who Among America’s Colleges and Universities. Belin is pursuing a master’s in music education research and a master’s in music performance at University of South Carolina –Columbia. He is the owner and director of VP Music Studios, where he teaches voice and piano. Belin has performed as a soloist and a chorister throughout North Carolina and South Carolina.

Coker College offers performing arts students a major in music with concentrations in voice, piano and musical theater, a major in theater with concentrations in performance or technical theater, and a major in dance with concentrations in performance/choreography and movement analysis/therapies. Performing arts students study and perform in the Elizabeth Boatwright Coker Performing Arts Center, which includes the Watson Theater that seats 466, has a proscenium stage, an orchestra shell, computerized lighting and state-of-the-art acoustics, and the versatile 80-seat Black Box Theater.
