HARTSVILLE – May 7, 2013 – Steve Marciano has accepted an appointment as the director of Coker College’s Enactus program, effective May 28.

Marciano, who will graduate later this year with a degree in business administration from Coker, has been a senior member of Coker’s Enactus team for the past 18 months.

“With hands-on experience with Enactus, a deep commitment to Coker College’s mission, practical management experience and a solid education in entrepreneurship and business administration in the U.S. and abroad, Steve is ideally suited to this leadership position,” said Coker College President Robert Wyatt.  “I look forward to working with him and seeing his creativity, enthusiasm and natural competitive spirit applied to help grow our Enactus program.”

Enactus is an international non-profit organization that brings together student, academic and business leaders who are committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to improve the quality of life and standard of living for people in need.

Now in its third year at Coker, the college’s Enactus team was nationally ranked as a top-60 team in 2011 and a top-40 team in 2012.  The team was named a regional champion at the Enactus competition in Atlanta, Ga., last month and will compete for the national title at the Enactus National Exposition in Kansas City, Mo., May 21-23.

At Coker, Marciano served on the Student Athletics Advisory Committee and has been a leader on Coker’s new lacrosse team, scoring the first goal in the program history.  He studied business at the Universidade do Sul de Santa Catarina in Brazil during the fall 2013 semester.  Before transferring to Coker in 2012, Marciano earned an applied associate degree in business administration from Suffolk County Community College in Selden, N.Y.

While pursuing his degree in Selden, Marciano was supervisor of Magnolia Home Theater sales with Best Buy, and before that he was a sales associate with Eckerd Pharmacy.

Marciano replaces Ben Chastain, who resigned earlier this month.
