Justin Towey Elected to Coker College Board of Trustees

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Aug. 13, 2013 – Justin Towey of New York, N.Y., has been elected to serve a three-year term on the Coker College Board of Trustees.

Towey is the managing director of HighTower’s Morse, Towey and White Group.  Previously, he was a vice president of investments and private wealth advisor at UBS Financial Services. Towey has been handling the financial affairs of high net-worth clients for 16 years. Mr. Towey analyzes investment managers appropriate for the Group’s clients, evaluates their ability to match their investment philosophies and risk/return characteristics with clients’ investment objectives. Towey is a portfolio manager for Morse, Towey and White and also is a member of HighTower’s Global Investment Solutions steering Committee.

In 1997, Mr. Towey joined the Atlanta office of Salomon Smith Barney where he supported the branch’s top investment consultant in executing separately managed account business. In September 1999, he joined the Morse Group at Salomon Smith Barney. In 2002, Justin was designated as a Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) by The University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.

He serves as a member of the board of the Leviticus 25:23 Alternative Fund, which helps provide low-cost capital to community-based organizations and projects. He is a former treasurer for the Oldenburg Van Bruggen Foundation.

Towey, who graduated from Coker College in 1997, is the 2012 recipient of Coker College’s Outstanding Young Alumni Award. While at Coker, Towey was a four-year member of the Cobra baseball team. In 2010 he was inducted into the Coker Athletics Hall of Fame as a member of the 1994 Coker baseball team. As a team, the Cobras finished the season that year with a 48-12 record, won the Carolinas Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament and the NAIA Mid-East Regional and advanced to the NAIA World Series.
