Jeremy Nere Named Director of Career Development

HARTSVILLE, S.C. — Feb. 19, 2014 — Coker College announced that Jeremy Nere has been appointed as director of career development. As part of an organizational shift, Nere’s position will be housed in the office of institutional advancement.

I'm extremely excited to take on this new and challenging role,” said Nere. “There is enormous potential for what this office can do for our current students. Making sure our students are prepared going into their first job interview is something that needs to begin freshman year. Our college does an amazing job building the character and experiences of our students, and I hope to help them translate their skills into jobs immediately after graduation.”

The director of career development assists students with any stage of career or major decision-making and assessment. The position offers services in resume writing and review, interview skills, job and internship preparation, graduate school application assistance and professional and alumni networking.

Nere has worked at Coker since 2010. Prior to accepting the position within development, Nere worked in student enrollment as assistant director of admissions and, before that, as an admissions counselor. He was part of the admissions team that recruited the largest freshman class in Coker’s history this past fall.

“We are certainly excited about Jeremy leading the charge as he lays plans for serving our Coker students through a revamped career services department,” said Tricia Meinhold, vice president for institutional advancement. “His passion for our institution and helping students be successful is exceptional. The commitment Jeremy demonstrated in getting students to Coker College while working in admissions is the same energy he will use to help establish our students while they are on campus. He will do an excellent job preparing them for success after they graduate from Coker.”

Nere holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration from North Dakota State. Originally from Danube, Minn., Nere resides in Hartsville with his wife, Jaimie.
