Coker College Announces New Master’s Program in Management & Leadership

Hartsville, S.C. – February 23, 2017  –  In August 2017, Coker College plans to welcome the first class of its newest graduate program: the Master of Science in Management & Leadership.

Coker’s M.S. in Management & Leadership, currently pending approval by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, is designed to prepare leaders who can address today’s unique challenges. Students will learn from real-world scenarios, presented through Harvard Business Review case studies, and will focus on expanding knowledge in areas like decision-making, strategic planning, positive leadership, human capital, organizational change, and more.

“Coker’s academic purpose statement specifically notes our responsibility in the development of leaders,” says Coker Provost Tracy Parkinson. “I am thrilled that this program allows us to make that contribution to our region in a new and meaningful way.”

The program will be offered entirely online, requiring a total of 30 credit hours for degree completion. “Our graduate program will be offered in an innovative format that exposes the student to a help develop and refine the skills that you need to be a more strategic manager and leader,” says Melinda Norris, associate professor of business administration and chair of the Department of Business Administration at Coker College. “We are positioning graduates for career advancements.”

The M.S. in Management & Leadership is the fourth postgraduate program to be offered by the college, and its third to be offered primarily through web-based instruction. Tuition cost for the program is $1,950 per course, for a total investment of $19,500.

These are not the standard business classes you see at most institutions.
