Hartsville, S.C. – Feb. 2, 2016 – Coker College’s dance program will host its annual Faculty and Guest Artist Dance Concert on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 11-13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Watson Theater of the Elizabeth Boatwright Coker Performing Arts Center.
Hartsville, S.C. – Feb. 2, 2016 – Coker College will present an exhibition of paintings by Charles Philip Brooks titled “Vianelles.” The exhibit opens with a reception in the Cecelia Coker Bell Gallery on Monday, Feb. 8, 2016 at 7 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served. Brooks’ show will continue through March 4, 2016.
Charles Philip Brooks lives and works in the Pacific Northwest and on the North Carolina coast. He studied privately at the studio of Paul Ingbretson and with Dennis Sheehan.
Hartsville, S.C. – Jan. 27, 2016 – Coker College has received its 10-year accreditation with no follow up required from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). The reaffirmation process focuses on continuous improvement and is designed to ensure educational quality.
Hartsville, S.C. – Jan. 25, 2016 – For the first time ever, Coker College and the City of Hartsville have teamed up to put together a public parade as a part of Coker’s annual Homecoming celebration. The parade will be held on Saturday, Feb. 6, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
Hartsville, S.C. – Jan. 20, 2016 – Coker College Dean of Students Whitney Watts has been selected to participate in the 2016 Alice Manicur Symposium. Sponsored by the NASPA Foundation’s Center for Women, the symposium is designed for women at the middle management level considering a move to become vice presidents of student affairs.
Hartsville, S.C. – Jan. 19, 2016 – Coker College’s Center for Engaged Learning, Athletics Department and others across campus worked together to organize a community-wide day of service on Monday, Jan. 18 in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Hartsville, S.C. – Jan. 16, 2016 – Coker College is the proud recipient of a $41,000 program development grant from the Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education (NetVUE), which strives to enrich vocational exploration in undergraduate education. The NetVUE program development grant, the largest grant award given to Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) NetVUE members, is an initiative that is administered by CIC and funded by Lilly Endowment Inc.
Hartsville, S.C. – Jan. 12, 2016 – On Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, Coker will host an open roundtable discussion on the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr., in observance of his birthday (Jan. 18). The event, which begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Davidson Hall Auditorium on Coker’s campus, is free and open to the public.
