Coker College is seeking applications for a Head Field Hockey Coach.   The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of an NCAA Division II athletic program.  This position is responsible for developing and leading an new NCAA Division II Field Hockey program adhering to  college, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.  Other responsibilities include:


1.  Successfully recruit academically and athletically qualified student-athletes.  

2.  Plan and conduct practices and game day preparations.  

3.  Develop a game schedule

4.  Organizing travel for away competitions. .

4.  Manage the field hockey budget

5.  Fundraise within the  program.

6.  Develop and organize camps and clinics.

7. Work with athletics staff in facility scheduling.  


The ideal candidate is competitive with strong leadership capability and has the ability to motivate and persuade others in a positive direction.  The incumbent is well organized, works efficiently and is successful with time management.  Excellent communications and public relations abilities are a must.


A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required and a master’s degree is preferred.  A minimum of 5 years experience as a head coach and/or assistant coach in an intercollegiate field hockey program is preferred.  Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations is required.  CPR/First Aid/AED certification is required upon employment.  

This is a permanent, full-time, exempt, 12-month position reporting to the Vice President of Athletics with oversight of a graduate assistant coach.  Full benefits  with competitive salary provided.  Please send cover letter, resume and contact information for three professional references to
