Updates & Questions - Dr. Wyatt
Budget Process
 The budget process will be completed at an earlier date than normal with finalized budgets ready for approval by the Board of Trustees at the March 24/25 meeting.
 No position cuts will be proposed.
 The following will be proposed to the Board:
 Compensation – The current Employee Assistance Program has been renamed to Employee Assistance Plan which provides additional counseling (see Janice Bullard for details).
 Insurance – There is a cost difference between the Blue and Gold Plans.  The Administration is working to reduce the cost so that all employees can afford the Gold plan, especially those with dependents.
 Raises – The average pay raise will be 2½%.  Not everyone will receive the same raise.
 Retirement – 1% will be added back to the retirement match for a total of 6%.
 Raising the minimum salary floor – Salaries will be raised for those staff making less than $20,000 to the minimum salary floor of $20,000.  They will remain eligible for a percentage raise.  The next 15 employees above the $20,000 minimum will receive a $500 adjustment and remain eligible for a raise.  There is a different minimum salary for staff, faculty and coaches.
 The salary increase effective date is July 1 and staff appointment letters will be sent between the end of March and July 1.

A question was asked about pay equity.  Dr. Wyatt stated that an equity pay study is in the plan but at least a year is needed to establish pay grades.

Life Saver Awards
This award is presented from one staff member to another to recognize their stepping up to help out.
• In Lynn Rawls absence, Janice Bullard presented lifesavers to Jeanette Green to thank her for the assistance she gave Lynn when she fell in the Student Center.  Jeanette rushed over to help Lynn up, contacted Security and stayed with her until she knew Lynn was ok.
• Mary Bucher presented her lifesavers to Tarshia Edwards and Elaine Byrd who keep her straight with scheduling the buses for athletic usage.
• Mary Fernandes presented hers to Cindy Griggs and Ainsley Atkinson for their help while she was on vacation.
