A-Team Reports

Dr. Robert Wyatt – The Administration Team will be off campus participating in a retreat. The enrollment numbers are looking good. Dr. Wyatt reminded staff that it is important to remain customer friendly and work hard to keep everyone happy. The college has to grow in order to provide financing to build more buildings and hire additional personnel. Dr. Wyatt reported that his office group will switch with Dr. Parkinson’s office group. The Office of Academic Records will move to the Administration Building and the ALPHA offices will move to the Wiggins House.

Dr. Tracy Parkinson – Dr. Parkinson stated he is ―thrilled to be here‖. He also mentioned that students gravitate to staff that are knowledgeable and are able to answer their questions. It is important that we continue to work on keeping students around for their and our sake.

Additional Reports

Monique Richardson –To date we have 247 deposits including readmits. A Campus Visit Coordinator position was created and Jessica Baker moved into the position. We will be looking to fill the Admissions Counselor position vacated by Jessica Baker.

April Palmer – The dorms are at capacity and an overflow plan has been developed. From today on any admitted students will be placed on a residency waiting list. Room placement is going on now and letters will go out beginning next week. Downtown lofts will be available for 20 upper classmen residential students. An open house may be scheduled.

Brianna Douglas – A new timesheet has been developed for all employees. Exempt employees record only the days that they are off on the new form. The timesheets will be provided by departments, six months at a time, and can be accessed at the following link: T:\Employee Items of Interest\Timesheets.

Customer Service Monthly Focus – Staff are encouraged to be good listeners to customers. Listen to what is being said and how communicated. At times the customer just needs to vent. Help the customer as much as you can. Share customer service email etiquette and other focuses with interns and work-studies.

Staff Survey – The staff survey will be out soon. Staff are encouraged to complete the survey in order to provide input for the CSAC Committee. The information provided is important to the success of the staff council. Paper copies of the survey will be provided for Physical Plant staff along with sealable envelopes. The surveys will be entered by Kyle Saverance in order to maintain confidentiality.

Lifesaver Awards
Dr. Cathy Cuppett – Nominated Tasha Stryker because she looks for ways to expand the use of the online system. Tasha revamped placement tests so they could be offered online. She also moved the Spanish placement exam to CLAM and typed the entire Spanish exam.

Dr. Tracy Parkinson – Nominated Jennifer Rhodes and Marsha Eide for helping him transition to a new position.

Tracey Burns – Nominated Teresa Hough for giving up a Friday afternoon off in order to help Tracey catch up on paperwork.

Dr. Jeanne Cook – Nominated Travis Pooler for always being there for her from providing extension cords to making sure she was provided diabetic desserts.

Staff Excellence Award
A traveling trophy cup will replace monthly certificates beginning with the month of July. The cup will be filled with candy and the recipient will be responsible for returning the cup to the CSAC President prior to the next monthly meeting. Framed certificates will be provided at the December holiday luncheon.

The recipient of the Staff Excellence Award for the month of July goes to Melinda Holland and was nominated by Dr. Steve Terry.

Melinda has been a model employee in Student Services and Campus Life. She approaches her work with a service mentality….whether it be students that have lost an ID, a new ALPHA student that is coming to College for the first time, one of the RSO leaders who needs a purchase order, a call in from a parent who has been transferred to Student Services because no one else could answer their question or one of her colleagues who need something at the last minute. Melinda has been a pleasure to work with. Every day, she is the same, consistent person. If she is having a bad day, you never know it. About the only time I have seen her get upset was when the ID machine broke about 2 days before orientation! Melinda and Roger, her husband, are moving to Louisiana where he has taken a job as a faculty member in the Business Department of McNeese State. We are going to miss her.
